Blessing of the Fleet 10 mile road race

by Ann-Marie on July 24, 2010

I decided to do the Blessing of the Fleet 10 mile road race at the last minute (well, a few days ago).  I was scheduled for an hour run anyway and it is so much more fun to run with a group. And, boy was this a group! Over 2,600 runners raced last night. What fun! It was a really great course. The road was flat and there were thousands of folks cheering us on. There was a massive downpour at about mile 7. I loved it. It totally cooled me down and I ran faster. The only problem was that my socks and sneakers were heavy and squishy.

I did much better than anticipated. I’m not sure why.

I finished in 1 hour 19 minutes and 24 seconds for a 7:56 pace. I placed 603 out of 2695. And, I placed 25 out of 315 for women 40-49 years old.

Here are the results.

Congrats from a retired runner who still has an interest in this great sport!

btw, do you happen to know what the course record is for this race? Just wondering if it's below 50 minutes (below 5:00/miles)?
  • Thanks! I don't know the course record. I didn't see anything on their website. It is a very flat course, so it wouldn't surprise me if it went below 50 minutes.
